Knew today's FJ cold.

KJ was a welcome relief from the humdrum of Biden's inauguration.

Looks Like Ill be the 2nd to start things off Today. Got the Episode, Thank God. so weird to be like the first to watch the episode(yeah my affiliate in Houston is usually the first or one of the first but i usually don't watch it until hours later) , but Presidential Inaugurations Trump our Regularly Scheduled 61 Answers, Sadly.

Glad to see that One of Our Contestants got to Meet Alex Before he Died.

For the First Time Since December 11th, Got a Final Right. I knew Sacremento was One cause of the Gold rush, So Carson City seemed like the Only Other Plausible Option. Maybe Phoenix or Salem.

Alex got to do his Bogie impression many times. No disrespect, but Ken does not need to try his Rodney again.

Ken was spot on to his reaction to the Esther Rolle stumper.

Nice show and tell by Sarah:

Ugh! I missed a run in '80s HITS by being doubly wrong. First I was thinking of a Laura Branigan song and attributed it to Air Supply and then it became a "Think McFly!" when the correct group was named. So glad that was an at-home error.

The FJ! category had me all over the place with the brainstorm game:
Four Corners
2 & 3-word capital cities
Caps not ending in a vowel west of the MS
simple being able to recall all the states quickly in the west
and the always - Don't forget about HI & AK

The FJ! clue had me do it backwards as 1864 gave me one from there I better had known the second one. Solved quickly while the writing took a little time. Sarah barely got hers done in time, though still 3rd place anyway.

Nice title defense by Brian to this time be perfect on wagering clues.

What would the blood pressure cuffs readings be on the challengers? I thought I could hear their heartbeats through the screen.

I quickly wrote down Sacramento and Reno and put my pen down. I am an idiot.

I was hoping Aunt Esther would pop up but if they didn’t know Good Times I guess they wouldn’t have known her.

I guess Hannah was content winning $2,000.

All finished: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6915

A nice break on media clues today and done well ahead of Master Minds starting. I'll gladly take it after the long delay.

Archive playthrough:

Coryat $39,200 (47R, 1W)
DD 3/3
FJ

Typically pretty good with mythology but it gave me trouble this time, only got the top and bottom clues. Whoopsie: aquifer for aqueduct. Clammed on blunderbuss because howitzer popped into my head and I knew it was wrong.

Bamaman above had Reno.
A person on Reddit had Denver & Cheyenne.

There are ways to go wrong with it.

The gold strike in 1848 led me to Sacramento. I was pretty sure Nevada joined during the Civil War so it had be those states. I know good and well Carson City is the capital of Nevada. I have no idea why I wrote Reno. Other than I am an idiot.

Thank goodness for Denzel, because I missed all the rest of that category.

Pretty much an instaget FJ. I don't have a clue where in NV that Carson City is located, but why not go with the gold rush and the Silver State.

I had those 2 but quickly remembered that Carson City is the capital and changed it in time.

runs: I Ran So Far Away, Word Up, Don't You Forget About Me, '80s Hits, Men of Myth,
bagel: Filmographies :x
Daily Doubles: :D :D :( (guessed Wharton)
trash: Huey Lewis & the News, Conquistador DD, Adam, Fermions, bed, Good Times :o,

That was a dream J! board. 8-)
Thought Sultan Selim was way undervalued.

58 R (Couldn't pull out Good Times or Brie Larson.)
DD: 3/3
FJ:
LT: Bridge, Huey Lewis and the News, (Conquistador), Adam Trask, Randle McMurphy, Fermions, Iron Bed, Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Chromosomes

Got Tom Hardy correct because Tom Hardy appeared as a word on "Get a Clue" the other day and the contestant mentioned Mad Max. Thank you Game Show Network for airing that episode at the right time. :D

I studied US capitals for fun about 18 months ago, since I hadn't really run through them since the mid-90s. One of my historical/geographical knowledge gaps, as well as never having had to learn the order of the US presidents, which I also learned at around the same time and has since almost completely fled my mind.

I too, stupidly put Reno as the capital of Nevada. If I ever get The Call (and I'm nowhere near that obviously), that would be one I wouldn't get wrong. I guessed Sacramento as the other capital. I figured the distance would be reasonable - I knew Sacramento was north and far from LA, and figured that Reno wouldn't be close to Las Vegas, so it would be north too. But, alas, I was wrong anyway, despite the distance from Sacramento being almost the same when driving (130 miles, or "about 100 miles").

For those comparing tonight's show to last night's, Ken and the judges were a lot stricter. Quite a few cases of close but no cigar for Sarah - Fermi/fermite vs fermion, and Song(s) of Solomon. Both are frustrating...I think Sarah misheard/misread the clue and thought Fermi was enough, but then she realized she had to pull the name of the particle and didn't know it. And for the improper pluralization...I can see how that can happen easily. We all mishear/misread things.

And, folks, please, don't ever, ever, ever call it "beantown" unless you're being sarcastic. We hate that. Probably as much as people in Frisco or Chitown hate hearing those names.

That's nice. When did the song "Another Brick In The Wall" hit No. 1? That's what matters as far as the clue goes for qualifying for '80s HITS.

******
Another notch for picking up all of the LSV trash.

Yeah, if the writers want to call a place "Frisco" it better be the one in Texas or any other of the non-CA states.

Ran '80s Hits and Don't You Forget About Me.

Everybody Wants to Rule the World was a very tough category IMO, and I was easily 0/5. I couldn't tell you a single thing about Syria, and I don't see how ANYthing about Syria could ever be in the top box.

Brutal DJ! for me with only 5R 1W.

Orpheus, Amy Schumer, and Good Times were all unfamiliar to me in the top box.

Man of Myth for $800 was very poorly pinned. I bit hard on the "iron maiden" negbait as usual.

I don't recognize any of the movies named in Actors' Filmographies except the two named at $1,600, and I can't say Amy Schumer rings any bells for me either.

Our pastor preached on the book of Esther just last week and I still couldn't pull Mordecai in time. Would've needed the Regular Show reference or something.

Gold in CA, silver in NV. Instaget.
