1864 pointed me to Nevada ("Battle Born," made a state during the Civil War) and silver (Comstock Lode). California and gold were then obvious, though I wasn't sure how close their capitals were to each other.

Re: Wednesday, January 20, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I figured on Sacramento very quickly, given that California and 1854 point to the Gold Rush years like a beacon.
I had no idea Sacramento was that close to any other state capital, however. Ran through Denver (no, way too far and CO didn't become a state until 1876), Santa Fe (no, even farther), and Salt Lake City (is salt a precious metal? probably not).
Then I remembered the other precious metal, silver, and the Comstock Lode. That of course led to Carson City, but I didn't think the silver of Comstock really did that much for the wealth of Nevada (and the creation of the mint in CC) until a decade later.
But, had nothing else, so by process of elimination and decent guessing, I managed to pull this one out to remain perfect at least for the week.
I really need to get one or preferably both FJs right Th. and Fr., as I have been lagging far behind my usual correct percentage this season and it's really bugging me.
How about a softball tonight, huh?

Everyone fared well today and that FJ! was simply a WECIB for me.

It's the end of the journey that counts.

I'm shocked that the wagering police have not put in an appearance on the board after today's FJ. Did I miss a memo declaring a moratorium on wager-related finger-wagging?
