Re: Friday, January 22, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
The gentlemen were tied with five clues left on the board. I did not expect the tie scenario to hold, but PLANE SPOKEN finished with two stumpers, Maggie got 12 & 16 in BRUCE WILLIS MOVIE QUOTES and the round ended with one more TS clue.
Maggie should have anticipated the guys might bet it all and if they did and missed they would be at zero. Of course there is always the possibility of someone blinking first and sitting pat with 18800. Maggie went for the works and thanks to the FJ! clue not being too difficult there was no clean the slate of contestants triple zero finish.
A tiebreaker clue is not expected and to squeeze it in the clue is usually quick and straightforward. Brian won the buzzer battle to prevail. It almost seems a shame that Jack leaves with only $2000 while the flip side it to look at DD2 & DD3 when Jack have added the buck more he needed to lead for the FJ! round.
7600+4000 with Brian at 13600 & Maggie at 8000 got Jack all the way up to still in second place.
13200+4000 with Brian at 13600 & Maggie still at 8000 did get Jack to a $3600 lead while Brian had enough time to make it up.
It was an exciting finish to end the week and Ken handled it all well making it go smoothly.
Where does Brian stand overall for a possible ToC spot:

Almost done except for the very end: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6917
It could be something I did or did not do or just the coding itself that is not letting me complete the game. Will fix it as soon as can.
Ken played the BMS game for Roosevelt, but was fine with last name only for the DD2 guy.
In the DJ! round there were times that Brian had 13600 and Jack had 6800. Today must have been density, I mean, destiny.

Re: Friday, January 22, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Archive playthrough:
Coryat $42,600 (51R, 1W)
DD 3/3
FJ
tiebreaker
29/30 in the J! round - clammed on Mercury because "Heat" came to mind and I knew that was wrong.
Movie quotes in DJ is always no bueno for me. Managed the top two, nothing else. Negged with "chorus" on THIRD $800. I'm having trouble figuring out how "lots to say" leads to "orchestra" even with some Googling.
Instaget FJ to close out the week 4/5 - back on track a bit from a slump.

When Maggie missed FJ I was hoping for a TS but a tiebreaker wasn’t bad. Instaget for both of the last two clues for me.

It Took me a Minute to figure out what they were asking for in the Disastrous Teams Category.
Gotta Love Ties going into Final.
I put Down Alexander Hamilton for Final. Im guessing im not the Only one. The places that werent in US should have been n a Giveaway that i didnt Pick up On.
The Only issue with Co Champs is that someone from the next game would have to Be Bumped out for it.

Re: Friday, January 22, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I'm not asking anyone else to do research that I'm too lazy to do but at the same time, I am too lazy to research the history of tiebreaker FJs. I suspect they may tend to be easier, to avoid drawing the game out too long.
Before anyone else wastes a bunch of time, the speed of sound decreases as altitude increases, up to a point. So the Concorde clue is probably accurate.
Did anyone else guess "Jordan" for the Philadelphia Orchestra concert locale?
I haven't been watching, so I won't be able to weigh in one Ken until it's too late to matter, even hypothetically.

Thanks. Actually, I'd forgotten the entirely different dynamic of the tiebreaker. You don't get to ponder over the "think" music after being called on.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 5:57 pm

Any clues that do not produce a winner are not shown so time isn’t an issue.

Concertos can be described as a dialogue between a soloist and an orchestra, with musical themes being tossed back and forth.

I can imagine this clue in a future "rhyme time" category: Shell-collecting cancer doctor.
This probably wasn't worth another post, but there it is.

I probably heard wrong, but it sounded to me like Jack said "continent" for "consonant."
It was cool to see the clue on Jellyfish Lake in Palau. I remember when a visit to it was featured as a reward on Survivor.
I guessed Lenin on the tiebreaker clue, but I wasn't sure.
