Re: Friday, February 12, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Delta came through with the whole game this time. Fine by me as the "fight" montage was getting crazy on the trial.
DD3 was hiding and it was not going to be in the same category where DD2 was found. It could be that John would have lost even if he found and converted DD3 to lead for the FJ! round.
John had a possible 32000 and if Lance was correct on the FJ! clue he would have been up to a pretty $30,000. John would have been at 25,000 if he was right on the FJ! clue as he got 200 above Lance's starting point of 24,800.
TS clue and Lance easily had the most money remaining.
The FJ! category had me write SPA for Socrates, Plato & Aristotle. I added Solon, (don't ask me to distinguish between philosophers, statesmen, orators, lawmakers, poets, etc.) Atlantis and The Academy to round out my precalls.
The FJ! clue immediately ruled out two guys and I was not going to bother guessing Lance's incorrect response. In trying to find some old timey guy to write I went with Demosthenes and never had the eureka moment for an alternate name as Archimedes was my B side guess.
The clue is fine for regular play though I would have had no objection to it being upgraded to the ToC as perhaps someones gets it to earn moving on in the tournament.

Done earlier than yesterday: https://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6938
Thank you CBS Delta.
As to the writers for adding a bunch more media clues on top of the STEM ones?

Re: Friday, February 12, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Archive playthrough:
Coryat $49,400 (55 R, 0 W)
DD 3/3
FJ
Solid game for me all around, didn't miss more than one in any category. Blanked on Alfa Romeo, otherwise could have ended up north of $50k. (Edit: after watching the episode, I gave myself credit for Bob Dylan, as there's not a chance in a million I would have failed to recognize that photo as him.)
Then I approached FJ like an amateur and couldn't get Aristotle out of my head, not trying hard enough to think about the "stoic" and "mad" parts. Grr.

Instaget FJ, not in small part due to a former board member.

You understand why this appellation is insulting and sexist to a respected Ph.D. molecular and developmental biologist? (Or indeed any person over the age of adulthood?)
IMHO, there are ways of expressing fair criticisms of guest readers without resorting to sexism.

Re: Friday, February 12, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
That was most definitely a TOC-level FJ right there, in that I wrote down the correct response almost immediately, and spent the rest of the time trying to convince myself that I went too deep and overthought it.
That was BY FAR the best STEM category this week as far as clue-reading skill. All credit and kudos to Markaisa Black for enunciating well and making the clues easy to decipher without begging for J! subtitles.
Only one more week of Ken hopefully he's not gone for long.

Re: Friday, February 12, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
runs: Game Theory, Fruit Forward, Mecca & Medina, Rage, Girl, Symbols, After Supremes
Daily Doubles:
trash: Rochambeau DD, Wahabi, Providence, Huns ( at the triple miss),
FJ: matched John with Pythagoras
did not like Lance running to Oscar-Winning roles
kicking myself for Ganges instead of Indus.

Ran Fruit Forward, All the "Rage", and Concerts.
0/5 in After the Supreme Court. Strangely I could have gotten Andrew Johnson and president pro tempore with a hair more time, but was clueless on the top three.
Game Theory for $800 was way over my head. I could have taken 100 guesses.
Clammed on Symbols for $400 since it seemed like a coinflip on ant/bee and of course, my coin landed on the wrong side. I got only "schwa" in that category.
FJ! If you can't be right, be funny. "Who is Testiclēs?" (pronounced "testa-cleez" obviously) Diogenes doesn't ring any bells for me.

Can we all agree to getting rid of the Monopoly board colours from the trivia rotation? Thanks lol
Today's guest did have better presentation.
Though I don't blame the other presenters this week. It's on a producer to give notes on the speed and emphasis when reading the clues. And yesterday the doctor's first language wasn't English, which is tough.

I had Aristotle but wasn’t very confident. Apparently with good reason.

Re: Friday, February 12, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I didn't have a guess at FJ. The clue used up Plato and Socrates, so my cupboard of Ancient Greek Philosophers is empty. I am going with the under at 44% in the poll.
John was beaten by a better player today, although I haven't considered relative wagering strategy. I will miss the STEM clues but glad that Mark B will get a break. FJ did not save John today.
When I have trouble remembering "CRISPR", I always just go with the simpler "Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats" .
