Re: Monday, March 15, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Feb. 17 is when the radio host died who appeared in the REAL-LIFE CARTOON CHARACTERS clue, so after taping.
Kathleen was skunked until clue 21. She got better although still third place. Even if Kathleen solved DD3, still third place.
DD3 was hiding until almost the end of the DJ! round. ART, HISTORIC PLACES, (where it turned out to be) SPACED OUT AND "T.O.C." were all legitimate places for a DD while the one place I would have eliminated for its placement was TV FINALES.
The other spot that would not have DD 3 is A COLLEGE CONFERENCE CALL since that had DD2. Don't look there, Dave.
The FJ! category had me do one elimination due to the earlier Swift clue. My precalls were Shangri-La, Atlantis, Hogwarts and a wider net of LoTR.
The FJ! clue had me momentarily dreading a blank as I recognized the terminology, but could not place it. Taking a pause to do Latin for bread brought it all home to join the contestants.
Tom had a strong J! round and unlike some others was able to maintain his momentum throughout the game to lead at the end.
The J! site has not updated its preemption list. Hoops on CBS will be dominating the schedule on both Friday the 19th and Monday the 22nd. Please, Houston & ABC, no weather or political incidents those days.

Well, at least I got the first three letters right. I said Pandora, even though I knew Avatar wasn't based on a book. Somehow didn't think of Hunger Games, but would've had it if I remembered.
Spoilering my next comment just in case since I mention last Friday's game.

Spoiler
I love how Friday's FJ category was Historic Places (i.e. real places), and we get Fictional Places as today's category. Not only that, but the previous FJ category showed up today as a category in DJ.

Still mad about Pluto No Longer Being a Planet 15 Years Later.
Fun fact: Fordham Dosent Play Sports in the Patriot league Except for Football, They Play in the Atlantic 10. so technically they are in The Patriot league.
I thought Hunger Games, but ive never read the books or seen the movies, so i didnt know what the place was called but i was basically right lol.
No promises that we will not be Preempted Friday but i doubt we will be.

Bread -> pan -> Panem was easy. I got it before Katie was done reading the clue.

runs: Totally Lit, T.O.C., Spaced Out,
DDs:
trash: Booster DD. As noted by Mark, rather clean boards.
FJ: Panem instaget from "Bread & Circuses", everything else was noise.
We can't say Historic Black University now? I spent the clue trying to figure out what HBU stood for

I have always heard it as HBCU. That was a tough category. Fordham was my only miss.DBear wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 8:31 pm runs: Totally Lit, T.O.C., Spaced Out,

No clue on FJ. Put Hogwarts just to have something.

Said to my family “it’s where The Hunger Games is set” and knew it started with pan-, but got no farther, having not read the books and only seen 30 min of the first movie.

Re: Monday, March 15, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
39R. 3/4 on big clues. Missed FJ. I guessed Panthea to have something. I've seen some of the movies but haven't read the books. I preferred Battle Royale and I've never really been into The Hunger Games series. Bread and Circuses is a popular term and occasionally serves as a concise commentary of our state of affairs.
Tried to go with Tax Haven instead of Tax Shelter. For the Louisiana university with a Tigers team I guessed LSU but should have known better.
Not familiar with Peterhof palace. The pictures are pretty remarkable so that will make an impression. Who really needs a gold fountain.
Lots of new stuff for me to learn. I should remember Della Street/Perry Mason and Albrecht Durer next time. I've seen that self-portrait before.
I missed the Dexter clue. I thought it was only on Showtime but it looks like it's been more widely distributed to other services now. I'll start watching that.
The contestants were really good. Dave played really great on Thursday and was a tough match for Tom today. Tom seemed comfortable with the categories and I'll get to see how he does again tomorrow. Katie Couric did great. The show was really focused on the game and the host did not get in the way at all. That's exactly what the host should do.
I liked that they skipped the top row clues in the first Jeopardy round. That shows they know what do to.

I felt bad not getting Albrecht Durer. I needed praying hands to get there, I wish the year was good enough.
Add me to the sad list of knowing Hunger Games, knowing it started with "Pan", but not getting there.

I always thought the "pan" in Panem stood for "all" because my understanding was that the country was supposed to be the entire North American continent. This Is Kirk! wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 11:04 pm Yeah, pretty much exactly this for me, too. Sort of surprised it was a triple get.
