Lisa gave the judges no choice twice with butchering the Russian author's name and clearly late on solving DD3.

MOVIE ROLE, TV ROLE $1000: LBJ in "Lee Daniels’ The Butler" & "Ray Donovan"

Lisa: Who is Forest Whitaker?

The FJ! category had me thinking politics guys who did not make president.

The FJ! clue had me thinking somewhat of home court advantage as I wrote the correct name. During think time my pen was down although I did take a moment to assure myself there was no way it could be Lisa's guess (20th century). The other second of hesitation was knowing a tad too much and wondering if the Scottish background meant I should keep thinking.

When I also had Darwin pop into my mind in wondering about an unheard of relocation I decided to stop messing around and just wait to get my correct response.

Many players in Susan's position would not bet big on day 1 with assured money and just bank the total in front of her. It reminds me of 10,000 things that bug me when watching Wheel sometimes as too often a player will solve early on their first puzzle to make sure they are getting some money.

Nice padded pay day for Susan and opening game. 19600 is a good Coryat although I would want to see it even higher against 8000 combined by opponents. A player can't always count on adding $7600 on DDs each game.

If Susan were to stick around long enough to become famous then Anne Hathaway could play her in an SNL skit.

Struggled between Muir and Ansel Adams, leaning towards Muir, but I couldn't remember either of their names. Finally Muir popped into my mind and that settled the 75/25. If I had remembered Adams first I might have joined Lisa in that incorrect response. It would have been helpful to me to know that Adams wasn't born until 1902, or to have recognized that the mid-19th century year given in the clue was a little early for photography.

Is it a triple stumper if initially ruled correct and then changed at a break? When Lisa mangled Dostoevsky I was ready get it on a rebound.

The Yosemite - Muir connection seemed almost too obvious to me and I wondered if there was some famous geologist I was missing.

No clue on FJ. Wrote down Yosemite Sam as a joke.

One more week of Oz. He isn’t horrible but isn’t exciting for me. We’ll see how it goes next week.

Forest Whitaker as LBJ?

I suspect they asked about the number of states in 2020 as opposed to 2021 because of the Democrats threatening shenanigans on new states.

I got Muir right away. I am nonplussed by the other responses. Ansel Adams was a photographer! Zebulon Pike was killed in the War of 1812.

I wonder if dr. Oz had Portsmouth Rhode Island confused with Portsmouth New Hampshire. The latter, not the former, is a stone's throw from Portland Maine.

MULTI-CAPITAL COUNTRIES is pretty easy when your 3 quick pre-calls are the Netherlands, Bolivia, and South Africa

My one stinging miss was not getting Ankylosaurus as I always associate the app Anki with that exact dinosaur. I won't miss next time!

Knew Muir came before Adams so FJ was pretty straightforward.

When they asked about the number of states in 1790 and 2020, it seemed so easy and obvious I could swear it was negbait. Certainly didn't belong near the bottom of the board, IMHO.

It really is a shame that you weren't given the shot at the rebound as she very clearly butchered Dostoevsky's name.

The states thing did make me think. I wasn’t sure when Vermont and Kentucky joined. Just how many did we have in 1790? But I decided to apply the KISS policy and got it right.

And is distance to the sun that obscure? Bottom row today and one a million dollar question from Regis.

I went with the obvious as well, despite not being sure about Rhode Island. Turns out they were the last of the original 13, joining in 1790.
Vermont was the first non-original, joining in 1791. Agree with the Astronomical Unit, that was teen level at best.

Rhode Island joined May 29, 1790. So “What is 38?” is also correct.

I spent the :30 trying to remember the name of the "Society" I knew the correct response founded...but I was thinking it was named after him, so even if I'd remembered "Sierra Club" I'm not sure I would have recalled "John Muir"...
