Re: Thursday, April 8, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Aaron seems to avoid Alex Trebek's, "Good for you" to end a chat segment and instead seems to favor, "That a good (great) story."
Brandon concluded his run with two more correct DDs to finish perfect at 6/6. He left $600 on the table that still would have had him trailing Pasquale who got $400 on clue 29 before time ran out for the unplayed remaining $400 clue.
Brandon's Coryats really fell off the cliff today with 7400. His perfection on wagering clues also ended with the miss on the FJ! clue that could have won him the game as Pasquale only attempted to cover Abbey's possible 21600 and not Brandon's 26400 or 26398 as the outgoing champ tried to reach.
The FJ! category had me using some of the break to run the countries on the continent although I did not use the full time as I was preparing some of theFJguy stuff. Between the break and think time I managed to completely overlook one of the biggies that should not happen since it's on the Risk board.
Today it was okay as I did manage to lock in the one city all the players had and completed my correct response with the 6-letter one. Whew, a two-part geography one that all the players missed is better than I've been doing lately. I'll take it.
Pasquale's name had me smiling as five blocks down from me is a Pasquale's Pizzeria that's been in business for many decades.

Re: Thursday, April 8, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Aaron is doing a decent job, but his wording is too influenced by Alex. He's not bringing anything new to the table. What I find more interesting about him is that he's potentially opening the show up to a new audience. He might be able to reverse the recent trend of declining ratings.
My lucky numbers are 6, 66, and 666.

All three contestants must have had enough of AR12, they did everything they could to not return for tomorrow’s episode.
Lots of possibilities to consider after Buenos Aires to be sure though.

After BsAs, I had Santiago, Caracas, and Bogotá bouncing around in my head. Having been to Santiago, it didn't seem *quite* that big, and I know Colombia is pretty populous as a whole, so I went that route.
Embarrassingly, Lima didn't even cross my mind.

I had BA and Brasília.

Not even a whimper of a guess. Could be any of them. Could be none of them.
I clearly can't do this. I fold.

Wtf how does the professor who lives in North Haven Connecticut not know the whiffenpoofs are part of Yale, not Harvard?
I'd rather cuddle then have sex. If you're into grammar, you'll understand.

Her mind wasn't that clear for the game.

Lima was my first get once I decided I wasn't going to take a chance on Brasilia. Buenos Aires came to me in time.
Maybe South Park, although "Let's Fighting Love" might be a stretch for the top box, and the other songs that immediately come to mind have TV-unfriendly language in their title ("Kyle's Mom...") and/or are from the movie ("Blame Canada").
Something from The Simpsons, perhaps. "See My Vest" or "The Monorail Song" come to mind.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 5:25 pm Anyone have a better option for a top box other than "Soft Kitty"?

Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

runs: Texas,
bagel: (0/4) Funny TV Songs. I think of old-time stuff like F-Troop.
DDs:
trash: Cossacks, Porthos DD
FJ: Buenos Aires, Bogota. Would never have picked Lima. Third guess woulda been Caracas.
Shoulda got Marian Anderson
Judges: Draconian for austerity?
Pasquale had a runaway going until he got dinged for Cassocks instead of Cossacks.

Re: Thursday, April 8, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I’ve been to Montevideo so I chortled when I saw that response. As others have noted, she had a couple of other egregious mistakes. I spent quite a bit of time in BA so I knew that was a correct response. It’s a bit like LA in that its expansiveness. Montevideo is pleasant but not too many big building. I have not been to any of the other capitals but it so happens I was talking after tennis tonight about Peru & things to do there. So lucky for me. I wouldn’t have known it otherwise.
