I find the streaks of 4-5-6-day champs a lot more interesting than 20-30-40-day megachamps. They never will, but I wouldn't be sad to see the return of the 5-day limit.

Good FJ today. I enjoy getable clues that also stretch the canon a little bit.

Cris is 100% on 10 DDs, 25% on 4 FJ! clues and 100% earning runaway games.

The FJ! category had me dreading another geography clue. It was a nice surprise that it was a U.S. history and indirectly in the movie area clue which I can handle better.

The gentlemen had no luck with the clue and the price was small with Francis going to finish in third anyway and Cris not losing 5 figures this time.

The previous champ from last Friday can have a bit of satisfaction in knowing the defeat was to a very strong competitor. The season's first ToC qualifier could soon find the time at the top of the tracker is over.

I'd love a poll over the weekend asking whether or not the film The Green Book was the first time you had ever heard of the travel guide.

This seemed like a, for lack of a better term, "old persons" FJ clue. "The Green Book" the publication never entered my mind as a real thing, despite having seen the movie. I was born so far after the Civil Rights Movement and lived in a well-mixed suburb in Southern Florida, that such a book seems disturbing to the point of fantasy.

So I had no chance of coming up with this one.

Never heard of the Green Book, so no chance on this one. I matched Francis just to say something.

Never heard of the Green Book until the movie a few years ago. Would never have guessed it without some additional TOM, maybe even just pinning it the the US. Otherwise, I was lost.

So knowledge of history is for "old persons"? Come on! I think most white old persons had never heard of The Green Book until a few years ago. When the movie came out and truthfully for a few years before then I read more than one article about this travel guide...I assume wider awareness is one reason the movie got made.

Yep. Personally familiar with that to an excruciatingly painful degree.

I can probably date the first time I was introduced to it to 2012:

Admittedly, the association with the movie brought renewed interest and hella more articles about it but I wasn't entirely unfamiliar with it. That said, it for sure would've been a headslapping "Oh, that thing!" after the reveal if not for the movie.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.
Latest movies (1-10): WIthnail & I (7), An Autumn Afternoon (7), Europa Europa (7), Tampopo (9)

For FJ, I initially thought of some technological change, but couldn’t think of any occurring in the “near future”. That led me to social or geographic changes, which led me to the Green Book. Having seen the movie definitely helped.

This 50 something hadn’t heard of The Green Book until the movie. Not proud of that ignorance, just a statement of fact.

I doubt this clue would have seen the light of day without the movie.

But any aspiring Jeopardy contestant should know each and every Best Picture winner without fail.

Yes, despite growing up in a predominantly African-American community, I wasn’t aware of the Green Book until the movie came out. Having said that, got it in about 10 sec: 1948, soon to be obsolete. Not a lot of other choices.

Count me in. I NHO the Green Book until the hoopla about the movie. Southwest Missouri had few segregated facilities by the '60's, but institutional racism was just under the hood (not that kind of hood  ). There was a swimming pool that was implicitly for the (redacted), but it wasn't socially acceptable to admit to bigotry/racism. Living on Route 66 I'm surprised we didn't see some signage about it at the motor courts.

I like Cris way more than some of the other krakens. I don't want to watch a string of runaway games. If they are like Mattea's run, I'm all in on it. I liked Cris' response when KJ had to bring up Holzhauer on Monday (?) that he isn't as good as James Holzhauer.
