$17,200 in trash plus an available DD2 that could add as much as $6000. This one's doable, especially since Travis took himself out of your way. (Dang, that was rough to watch.) If you can pick up $8801 or more and pledge your honor that you would've made the shutout bet against Diandra, a get on FJ gives you the win.
SJ9 $1000 TREES COMPANY: the town
SJ12 $600 TREES COMPANY: conifers
SJ15 $800 THE ROCKEFELLERS: West Virginia
DOUBLE JEOPARDY ROUND
DJ6 $1600 PLAY "FREE" WORDS: free will
DJ7 $2000 MONTHLY PEOPLE, REAL & IMAGINED: August Strindberg
DJ8 DD2 MONTHLY PEOPLE, REAL & IMAGINED: Theresa May
DJ9 $2000 PLAY "FREE" WORDS: freebooter
DJ10 $1200 CHEMISTRY: ammonia
DJ12 $400 CHEMISTRY: calcium
DJ14 $1600 HISTORY: the Red Guard
DJ16 $2000 THE GULF OF MEXICO: Pensacola
DJ19 $1200 POP INSTRUMENTALS: the "Harlem Shake"
DJ24 $1600 POP INSTRUMENTALS: "Frankenstein"
DJ27 $400 THE GULF OF MEXICO: the Gulf Stream
DJ28 $800 THE GULF OF MEXICO: Cuba
Conifers, Strindberg, a double-up on Theresa May, ammonia, "Frankenstein," and the Gulf Stream get me to a tantalizing $8,400. But Diandra didn't cover Niranjan; if she still only bets to catch up to Travis even with another player just $400 behind her, then I win covering Niranjan.
$11000, plus whatever on the DD, plus FJ. Not counting my "jet stream" neg, since Travis would have said it before me. Might have ended up saying Gulf stream, but was kind of thrown by same word being in the clue.
Kudos to anyone who got the plane-tree question without actually knowing the poem; without any introduction or visible text, that was just a big "Huh?" for me. (NB. having looked up the poem, the "it" in the clue should probably go outside the quotation marks, since the actual line is, "The plane-tree loves the town.")

"In the town" would work grammatically, though it departs from the ballad meter that had been established. I might have answered "down" for that reason. Anyway, typical of the show's ineptitude in presenting poetry clues.
$7000 + FJ. Would probably have wagered $5401 from last place to cover a zero bet from Travis and finished with a tie. And I'd hate to put money on my thumb in a buzzer race.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.
