All that clicking. Managed to get 45 while playing through the pain. Oy, my sore index finger.

I'm going to try the quiz later. But if the science nerds on the board aren't getting perfect scores - well, let's just say I'm doomed.

So what's the scrabble cheater's name? I don't really understand the philosophy behind withholding it, as if he's some kind of victim. If he's old enough to play in the Scrabble Nationals, then he's old enough to know that he's a scummy cheater.

Whoa, anybody know if there's a story behind Nigel Richards' beard?

APPLEJACK! NOOOOO!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hmcf1mHVoU

Also: Really, Florida? Really?

And is that the best way to dispose of something like that? What if it wasn't a bomb but instead packed with an airborne pathogen or those bees from X-Files? And if it was a bomb, wouldn't that make the boom even bigger? So many questions...

Mr. Hardy is correct. It's Yuri Gagarin. The two comrades-in-arms linked up during YG's trip through Havana in '61.

Let me once again rely on the collective wisdom here. Does anybody know what kind of bug this is that was hanging out on the bench behind me?

Doing some Googling (so, stressing, this is not from my own grey matter) it seems to be a yellow crab spider or goldenrod crab spider (Misumena vatia). (Interestingly, not all the pictures I found have the spider as yellow).

Best picture I found of your friend elsewhere on the web is here

Wow- I'm impressed as all get-out at the high quality of the picture, that is, the fine detail of the specimen.
If I saw something like that, any picture I snapped of it (after my basic panic instincts took over) would've been much, much flatter.

I am an arachnophile, and I agree that this is a goldenrod crab spider. Please don't squash these, folks. They are not poisonous, and they eat a lot of insect pests such as wasps and flies.

Actually I *think* it's not a "guy" but a girl. You notice the pic I linked had another spider on top of her? Well, you see, when a mommy spider and a daddy (longlegs?) spider love each other very much ...

(This may also explain why not all the pictures I found of that spider were yellow, it could be only the females are, as that spider that's on top of her in my picture isn't yellow (and is smaller, I think it's a general rule of thumb in the animal kingdom* that the female of the species is larger) and I doubt different species would mate (but I'm not an entomologist, so what do I know?)

*I'm definitely excluding humans from that list, I'm in enough trouble with my wife as it is, I don't want to add every female boardie on top of that.)

I so agree. The only good spider is a dead spider. They are just too creepy - God gave them way too many legs.

I finally took the science quiz. My score was 32/50. Not very impressive, but not totally terrible for an English major.
