46/50, from the video (thanks, sherder!) (or shredder, as Autocorrect likes to call you!)
Missed Atkins (Oz), Sugar Bowl (blank), Rubio (Cruz), and mullet (blank -- User Error: the word "double" in the category title just didn't register at all; I skim-read it as "L" words, and darned if I could think of the name of that hairstyle that starts with the letter "L" [and it still should have been fairly fresh in my mind after that mullet guy on "The Amazing Race"!])
Difficult for me to parse the Planck clue - at first I thought they were looking for Planck's constant (What, the number?? No way!), then I was thinking maybe "h ?" before finally deciding to go with quanta (assuming that would be accepted for quantum?).
Got lucky on Titian (NHO the hair color), Woody Allen (saw a mention of "Blue Jasmine" in the paper I read this morning), and Winn (sic).

OK, then I'd just plain never heard of it. At least I learned something.Paucle wrote:No, you don't. Totally different thing.Taffy the Welshman wrote:Thanks. I know it as a rotary or roundabout.
In a rotary/ roundabout, all cars entering the crossing use the same road to get to their new direction.
In a cloverleaf, each direction has its own ramp to change their new path to be a right angle to their old one. Those moving 270` (say, due north to due west, thereby crossing over traffic, or a "left hand turn" in a rotary)) use a full-circle ramp. A rotary "right hand turn" is a much simpler arced quarter circle ramp.

40, having taken it off the transcript. Glad I took Tuesday's.

Best get was when I guessed "cash cow" without noticing "bovine." I missed Claire Danes, Gulf of Finland, Triton, the director (changed from correct response to Tyler Perry, lol), the casino owner, Ilsa, the atmosphere, and Planck. So I got 42 right, acing the last 20; taking the test for real six years ago.

I didn't find a single rotary or roundabout in any of those images.Taffy the Welshman wrote:Thanks. I know it as a rotary or roundabout.koam wrote:Cloverleaf images: https://www.google.com/search?q=cloverl ... 02&dpr=0.9

Since there was no box to click to take this for fun, I took this off the transcript since I'm currently in the pool. Seemed harder than Tuesday night's, but my score was about the same - this one was 40 and I had 41 on Tuesday.

Took this for fun after for realzies Tuesday. Result: 40, the same both days.
Notes from a newbie:
-- I was nervous Tuesday and not at all Wednesday, yet it didn't affect my score (I thought both tests were about the same level of difficulty.)
-- Back-to-back stumbling out of the blocks. After getting Bering, I missed the next 3. Similar to yesterday. Hang in there and be mentally tough.
-- I'm better at actual Jeopardy than the gauntlet of low-level clues of the online test.
-- Add "titian red" to the database...
-- Tuesday, I missed "The Good Wife". Guess what my good wife was watching when I went downstairs after the test... No lie. How about "Person of Interest", "The Closer" and "The Mentalist" which I've watched with her? Oh, no.

I found Wednesday's test easier than Tuesdays's (scoring 42 from the video). But then again without the pressure my mind may have been working better.

Took this from the transcript (I'm currently in the pool) and I tanked with a 34. I don't feel this was significantly more difficult than last night (when I got 38). It just included a bunch of stuff I don't know.
The quantum question really flummoxed me. I put down "electron volt" even though I knew it was wrong. The problem with the question is that it seemed (to me) they were asking for a unit of energy. But there's not a unit of energy called a "quantum".

Teems with quiet fun.

42 off the video (thanks, sherder!) compared to 43 off the transcript yesterday. Can't say that one necessarily felt easier than the other.

Thanks sherder for the video(s) - much better quality than when I did it a few years ago. 43 on Tuesday, 45 on Wednesday. I think 45 is my highest test score ever, but I think my lowest is about 39 or 40, so there hasn't been a huge amount of variation. Taking it for real tonight.

If it makes you feel any better, I wasn't being serious. I really need the sports. Haha.zakharov wrote:I disagreeFishercat wrote:32 after 37 yesterday, and my test is Thursday. We'll see how that goes. I think my real range is in between those two.
It's nice to see sports have disappeared from these tests almost entirely at this point.
More baseball questions please!

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Central), January 8, 2014
Ease or difficulty of a particular test is so often particular to each person. Last night I got 42 when taking it for real. Tonight I got 49 (confused Triton for Titan, so said Saturn instead of Neptune) without breathing hard. Some of that difference is certainly due to taking it for real or not, but I definitely felt that this one was easier. But I wouldn't be surprised if others felt it was harder. Take a clue like "Atkins". I'm old enough to remember when those books came out and were all the rage so that one was probably easier for me than for someone younger. Also, I watch "Homeland" regularly so that was easy but there are other TV shows which I know much less about.

47 this time, but I think the asked-fors were more obvious. The answers were probably harder though.

Think I scored a 38, although I kind of blew through it off the transcript.
