I immediately question the merit of an article that includes the following statement: “The group got off to a great start with all contestants delivering correct answers in the first round, setting up a tough competition.”

How many times has this NOT happened? I can only think of one time, and I know the contestant who did it.

A lot of these articles seem to be written by people who don’t watch the show.

Assuming they're even written by "people" at all.

Making mistakes is one thing; doubling down on mistakes is whole 'nother thing. It's becoming too common with this "institution" of a show. Now I'm gonna go read Paul's letter to the Epistles

Bob Harris's "Prisoner of Trebekistan" is an expanded version of "Thumbs of Steel", an essay he wrote for The Realist in 1998. It was one of my "sacred texts" when I was preparing to be on the show. It can be read here:

https://web.archive.org/web/20010203220 ... opardy.htm

(Please note that while the publication in question is mostly just black text on a green page, much of the other newsletter contents would carry a Hard "R" rating. Maybe I should switch this to an Archive-dot-org link of Bob's old website.)

In that essay, he mentions that "the Associated Press has actually carried a national story concerning my buzzer technique (dubbed the Harris Hit)". That's spreading it on a little thick, since it was just a preview of his ToC, but that story can be found here:

Story is called "Thumbs of Steel", but he buzzes in with his index finger, smh. Anyway, I went back to read the essay this afternoon, and realized I couldn't remember ever looking up that AP story. So here you go.

(Maybe we need a "New Old News" thread.)

Yeah, I read through some of the other stuff in that magazine, and while it's pretty interesting, it's also fairly adult oriented. So I swapped out the link. You can google to get the original, if you care to.

Agreed.

Same goes for Decider.

I will be personally removing links to both publications going forward.

If something from Reddit is worth posting, then just post the link here. No reason it has to be filtered through the exaggerbait sites.

Well...apologies if this is a poor idea, but why not make a new thread and poll to decide whether we should ban linking articles from The Sun and other publications that could be labelled clickbait? That way, we can ideally reach a definite consensus that everyone knows about. I'm not really partial to The Sun myself and think that they offer little worthwhile discussion, but that's just my opinion.

Reddit didn't have the comment about the "Dozens of viscous fans".

Naturally, Fox News Headlines this with a photo of Alex Trebek.

Reminds me of the time movie character said she enjoys old movies. When asked for an example of an old movie, she named Grease.
