Everything is always "at producers discretion " so I don't wouldn't take that to mean they're staying. In the past, the website and rules have been slow to update. That's why I went to test last year as I could only find conflicting information on if I was still in the pool. Good thing I went and the contestant coordinator was surprised the website was wrong.alietr wrote:It has been indicated elsewhere that the forms specify that you'll make your own way to Stamford. As the song goes: Party over, oops, out of time.MarkBarrett wrote:There is a long history of the ATA screwing the contestant on a music Q. For those that don't watch:Golf wrote:Wouldn't have thought the audience was so woefully ignorant about Prince. Spoiler
$10K
I don't have the exact wording, but the question wanted the number of years prior to the year in the song's title that Prince released "1999."
(In other words did "1999" come out in 1988, 1986, 1982, or 1979?)
The choices were 11, 13, 17, & 20
The ATA was:
38% for 11 yrs
32% for 13 yrs
19% for 17 yrs
11% for 20 yrs
The contestant went with the audience choice leaving her +1 unused. The 50:50 had already been used.
17 (1982) was correct and that was 33 years ago at the time of the taping and months before Prince died. Many in the audience were clearly under age 30 even if the contestant was older. Nothing about how it all played out surprised me in the least.
I did figure it out in the comfort of my own bed, but under the lights - who knows?

I would think Variety is reliable enough unless they copied the information from some other place? http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/who-wan ... 201779755/alietr wrote:Have something to substantiate that?triviawayne wrote:And the winner is Vegas!!!

If you don't know someone who would be of any help that has the time to go to whereever the show is taped, what can you do?

Well there goes my chance to be somebody's +1. Not that I would have been any help unless the question was about Magic the Gathering, Sam Rockwell movies, or three specific video game franchises.

Crap. Crap. Crap. That seriously sucks. I really can't think of a place I'd less prefer it to be. In addition, the +1 now becomes a major problem among other issues.

But maybe they'll make the questions easier to compensate? (Also: I'm always willing to travel to Vegas)alietr wrote:Crap. Crap. Crap. That seriously sucks. I really can't think of a place I'd less prefer it to be. In addition, the +1 now becomes a major problem among other issues.

The good news: I won the million.
The bad news: Lost it at the craps tables later that night.

Don't know they should be much easier than they've been; show just needs to pick worthwhile contestants.Vermonter wrote:But maybe they'll make the questions easier to compensate? That's not what I was saying. Thinking it was 1988 was the woefully ignorant part.alietr wrote:Personally, I wouldn't consider not knowing the exact year it came out to be "woefully ignorant". And it was probably tougher than average at that level.

Well, I hope they didn't drop me from the pool on their way out to Las Vegas. I'd be happy to make the trip.

You still have to pay tax on the winnings in your home state (if your home state has an income tax).econgator wrote:On the plus side, NV has no state income tax.
