We welcome Nancy Reagan's black satin knickers to the J-Canon as a clue. For such a historically controversial fashion choice, you'd think someone would have bothered to take a better picture:

And I'm 2/2 in misreading Steve Bowie's notes on the till-now unarchived Jay Rosenberg games: I transcribed Missy as Mary. (I've edited my post from two years ago to acknowledge my misreadings, and to give Wayne's actual last name.)

I found a better picture being sold on eBay (the event was in Paris, so I found it by image searching her name and Mitterrand's rather than anything to do with knickers).

Sorry for posting three times in a row, but I found an obituary for Missy Williamson; it acknowledges her J! appearance.

Every one of the four times Till Eulenspiegel has been asked about, it's been a stumper. Looking forward to seeing it come up again in Jeopardy! Masters.

Lily Pons too.

Would also like to see Rudolf Friml, Sigmund Romberg, and Jean-Antoine Houdon as J! clues again.

Next up from the Frazee tapes, July 4, 1991, David Pollack vs. Jeb Boasberg vs. Molly Redfield. It's always nice to get a holiday episode in, even if it isn't one where TV is usually pre-empted.

We welcome the 1962 song "What's Your Name?" by Don and Juan to the J-Canon. I'd say you're safe leaving it off your flashcards, though.

Also new to the Archive, this particular fact that hasn't come up again in the last 30 or so years. Cheers to David for getting it right:
Number of times John Glenn's Friendship 7 capsule orbited the earth

Clue of the game will be U.S. HISTORY for $1000, a bottom-row clue you'll absolutely want to add to the flashcards.

What is Dumbarton Oaks?
Next game will be the next game, the last non-tournament game of season 7 to close up that gap.

Here's a fun one for the spelling/punctuation police. How would you render the correct response to this?

I'm happy with my choice, (

From the chat Sally won $800 on The People's Court in a dog(s) case.

See J20 for what happened with a scoring change situation.

For the top math clue I’d have been tempted to say “What is 27,346,512,980,646,210,986?”.

This is the Sara Cox–Steven Bonorris rematch.

Some notes:
  • I hear a plosive once or twice from Alex saying Chris's name, but it's inconsistent enough that I would rather render it as Chris and not Crisp. Further cursory research has come up empty, but if someone finds a source, I'd be OK with changing it. Mark: what does your notebook say?
  • Alex does say "Starts with the letter Q" in the first J! round category, but all five times it was called for, it was called "STARTS WITH Q", so it stays rendered as such until we get video evidence otherwise.

My scoresheet has Chris and STARTS WITH "Q". If Chris, or any other contestant, signed in with a nickname it's unlikely I would have changed my scoresheet off what I would have seen from the intro graphic.

Bill Hendrickson, Karen Brown and Harvey Becker

Bill was in the Army and Master Sgt
Karen collects pottery

Last names of challengers should be good unless an E comes into play

I picked this game because of the high total, but was disappointed the numbers for Harvey were not higher in getting there as thought it could be a 30+R.

J6 says "titles roles" instead of what I presume should be "title roles."

Alex's remark about the single-day record is slightly off; Elise Beraru's record total was $23,800, not $23,200.

Was Harvey introduced as a writer from Venice? I found an article about Tim Hedges, a challenger from his fourth game, that refers to Harvey as a New York attorney, plus Harvey's ToC Yearbook blurb from 2013 (which is reproduced in his ToC player page) said that his J! success allowed him to pursue a creative career, which leads me to imagine his regular-game intro differed from his ToC intro.

(Speaking of that game 4 challenger, for future reference, a subsequent article said his runner-up prize was a trip to Trinidad.)

When a player is already in the archive I have a bad habit of ignoring the intro. I did not notice that the info for Harvey #5 already archived must have come from the ToC and not his regular play intro. He was a lawyer turned writer from Old Bridge, New Jersey and the I've changed his profile for regular play.

J6 clue fixed and I put in an erratum for Alex not having Elise's total correct.

Thanks for the post, Sg.

Archivists do not have 6/6/85 or 6/7/85.

Natalie Windsor, David (Dave) McIlwraith and Nick Paul.

At chat Alex said Dave's surname like it looks and Dave corrected it to -"wrath", so I suspect the spelling is correct.

Always fun to get another game show category in no matter how the players do with it.

You know I'm absolutely going to welcome exiled King Leka I of Albania to the J-Canon. That was a fun wiki rabbit hole to fall into for a few minutes.
