Bob may have been "once bitten, twice shy" on the Daily Doubles—we likely would have had co-champions had Bob gone all-in on DD3.

A lot of writing was required with Final in this one, but it didn't stop it from going 3-for-3.
I have long wondered why contestants always seem to write out the full names of states & territories, not using postal abbreviations.
Is it a requirement? :?

I assumed it was a combination of "don't want to risk it" + "don't think of doing so".

Quite the Houdini act for Gary to win that one.

Sara smelled trouble on the Audio DD and bet $200. Good move. Myron may smell a welcome to the archive.

The Audio Daily Doubles from these early games usually are, but I'll happily welcome a Stevie Wonder song. Huzzah to "Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday" for making the grade.

We also welcome the Mexican border states of Tamaulipas & Nuevo León to the J-Canon. World Geography for $400 is just a good thing to know, for Jeopardy! or for otherwise. (Plus the fact that Texas separated from the state of Coahuila to become the Republic of Texas, which is why we don't have to welcome that one today.)

The writers got a little cute with their rightmost category name in the J! Round.

Scott definitely had issues STAYing CLAM.

Combined Coryat of $23,600. I'll take that for sure.

DJ7: Not sure if the clue was worded that way or if it was Alex correcting on the fly. Assuming the former unless video evidence emerges.

At this point there are just 9 games in the Archive backlog that pre-date us getting episodes from NAGSH, all from S7: 3/21, 3/22, 3/26, 3/27, 4/10, 4/11, 4/12, 5/3, and 6/6.

Moving through the TuneIn backlog, we have 1991-03-21: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7959

I gave my best guess on Ed's last name. Sleuths, feel free to confirm/correct.

DJ30: Shoulda STAYed CLAM for sure.

S7 passes the 200 mark.

1991-03-22, Tom Halpern Game 1: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7960

Excellent game whose endgame would have been much different had Deborah bet more on DD2. Still, probably a good idea from Tom to do what he did on DD3.

Next up from Tunein, 1991-03-26, Tom Halpern Game 3: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7962

J22: I've transcribed Alex's pronunciation. We'll need video to determine exactly what the clue said on screen.

DJ30: That feels like par for the course in S7 in terms of people not really realizing the game situation.

Final does not match Collected Finals.

FJ wagering will certainly set off the alarm bells.

From TuneIn, we have 1991-03-27, Tom Halpern Game 4: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7963

While I don't think Whisper was 100% right on David's name—it suggested "Kniep"—it was enough to point me in the right direction on where to get a more definitive answer.

This was a very competitive game.

This also closes the book on Tom Halpern's run.

To go along with the 16 clues missing to begin the DJ! Round the archivists do not have John's Game 1 or Game 2. It was hard to read the categories when the full board was shown and I saw anything from CIVICS to CLOWNS in the 6th category and guessed ASTRONOMY over AUTOMOBILES if this game ever turns up in full.

Alex mentioned on DD3 that John could take the lead like Bonnie did a little before, so $2000 may not be enough of a wager for what she actually did.

John was not giving up a going away gift of a tie when he got it right, even if Bonnie had bet it all. The payback for such a gesture? Bounced in the ToC and not enough to make the UToC. :)

Russ has a Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russ_Tolman as I suspect it's the J! guy.

I'm hinting CIVICS as the 6th category. I hope TuneIn can get to this episode soon and gets the entire DJ! round in there. Or at least have a photo of this episode's DJ! round board to see what the 6th category was. Many of us forgot that GSN reran this episode too.

Carrying on with Season 7, we have 1991-04-11, courtesy TuneIn: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7966

Burt's and his son Jason's Archive profiles have been edited to link to each other.

DJ16: Would be old hat for us in 2023, but it seems like this clue might well have been the turning point towards "you corrected yourself before we ruled against you" rule—you could even hear the judges offstage faintly.

DJ29: Nobody knows how to wager Daily Doubles properly in 1991.

It's not actually TuneIn who is responsible for these episodes—it's actually the show who is operating these channels, it's just that TuneIn is providing the platform—in case there's any confusion.
