I learned something new on COUNTRY DANCING $500.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 6:02 pm Thanks to games shared with Archivists, 1999-01-01 is in: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=8012

I imagine Mark ran the VERY BRADY CATEGORY.
Poor Celia was once bitten, twice shy with the fearful wager on DD3 after back-to-back DD strikes late in the game. If she had been Holzhauer in terms of wagering and response skill, she would have put the game away, but instead she had to settle for a trip to Sea World.

Yes, 5/5 in Brady and it was a nice surprise for it to be about the show and not a generic last name Brady category.Robert K S wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 6:02 pmI learned something new on COUNTRY DANCING $500.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 6:02 pm Thanks to games shared with Archivists, 1999-01-01 is in: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=8012

For those wondering, this is not the same person as the politician who is the former U.S. senator from New Mexico and current ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa.OntarioQuizzer wrote: ↑Sun May 28, 2023 1:32 pm Courtesy the National Archives of Game Show History, we have John Hnat game 5, 1985-02-18: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7997

Do you have the game a year older than this in the hopper?MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 6:02 pm Thanks to games shared with Archivists, 1999-01-01 is in: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=8012

Bruce Hennie, Sandy Dawson, and Jack Friend.
Notes:
J9: I 'm actually surprised nobody got this wrong.
J27, DJ8: Because Robert will ask, ampersands or "ands" are rendered per the onscreen clue.
We don't have Episode 131, but the second-placed player in that game, Thomas Bostian, had an article written about him in the Winston-Salem Journal. The article says Thomas finished with $2,000 and the winner finished with $2,700, but we don't know if that winner was Jack or the unknown third player. (So, Jack is either a 1-time champion, $5,700, or a 2-time champion, $8,400.)

Alan Steinharter, Sharon Rubens, Michael Daunt.

DJ10: Sharon very clearly said "Hest"; I have no idea who she was thinking.
Archivists do not currently have Michael Daunt game 1.

Linden Knighten, Marty Hanley, and Paula Tupper.
Notes:
This week saw the switch from yellow font to white font if the on-screen clue had been replaced in post.
At DJ18, the scores were 5100-300–100. Seven clues later, it was a much different story.
DJ25: "Spineless jellyfish" in the wild!
FJ: Oof.

Spoiler
I suppose they’d have accepted just a last name on FJ since both were right

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Paula won her previous game against another underwager by betting $2,500 (out of $2,700); maybe Marty thought she'd do another $2,500 and responded in kind.
In all of Paula's archived games she has won from second place nearly doubling up on FJ. She benefited from leaders who either got FJ right and didn't bet enough, or covered but missed while she was correct.

Thanks to games shared with Archivists, 1998-01-01 is finally in: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=8017
Season 14 at last has the magic 230 games. It was worth the wait. Well, other than that East Coast bias FJ! clue.

Seven months to the day after OntarioQuizzer identified nine episodes he would immediately watch were he granted access to the show's internal "vault," all nine have been found and entered into the Archive.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 6:35 pm Thanks to games shared with Archivists, 1998-01-01 is finally in: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=8017

It appears that the only unarchived game in 1997 is the one from January 23rd. Do the archivists have that one?

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Looks like March 11, 1997, is the most recent missing game. (One of 15 from that season).

The other missing 1997 game from this portion is March 5, 1997.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Regarding speculation as to when specific games might get put in:
Please be aware that our backlog is currently hundreds of games. We are doing our very best to put games in; please rest assured that we will be getting all games in our backlog into the Archive as quickly as we can.

At least FJ (I got it right) had a perfect wager from third place, though it only succeeded in snagging her second place.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 6:35 pm Thanks to games shared with Archivists, 1998-01-01 is finally in: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=8017
