:( :( :( :(

Only got the $800 clue though I should have had $400 since Kelly/Ryan and TMZ guys like to use the term. No chance on the bottom three.

$1200 is more crosswordese for the music genre than any other meaning for me.
$1600 & $2000 do not seem familiar to me in any fashion.

Voting for TEXTING as preference only because I got 4/5 in the most recent appearance.

I checked the "I have heard..." box only because of YouTube. I haven't heard anyone IRL use these terms.

We welcome "yeet" to the J-Canon as a response.

Got the first three, never heard of the others. Have used thirsty, but that’s it.

Born in 1998. This is purely osmosis. Do not use any of these, never will. I am not a cool guy at all.

Never used any of them as defined, either in text or speech.
(*I'm sure I've used emo, but in the older goth definition, not for a drama queen)

Very familiar with thirsty, and moderately familiar with yeet. Might have gotten yeet given an hour. Other three are hard nos.

I'll take texting abbrevs if forced to choose...

Not necessarily current, but the 9/21 NYT crossword has:

I found emo the simplest mostly because 3-letter word narrows it down so much.

Scrabble and crosswords help a ton on these clue types.

The slang meaning of thirsty was rather bowdlerized.

I don't think emo belonged at all, that is not a new usage, it's the same meaning as the music genre that's been around over 20 years. Emo=emotional.

4/5 with a clam, for $4,800. 3-letter music genre had me stuck on ska with nowhere else to go. I credit Vine and my friend on Black Twitter for my success.

The $1,600 was the only one I didn't know. "Fetching" was my incorrect response there.

Working as a dictionary editor gives me more frequent access to slang than a layperson, I suppose.
