The highlight of today's show:
Spoiler
Image

Did Navid get his glasses from Ryan Long? That was some unfortunate fogging up clearly noticeable upon introduction.

Thank goodness the players ended up getting some right in BIBLE STUDY as it was looking like a viral moment when Paul's city then the Queen and then the Gospels term went TS.

The FJ! clue had me match the gentlemen with only a minor detour of assuring myself it could not be Roland.

Michael was 2/4 on wagering clues after 2/3 in yesterday's game. He can take backward steps and through ring-in errors to still be the one in the lead after 60 ( and 61) clues.

For me, this Final was a coin flip until "Heardred".

I'm thankful for the top box clues in NEW HARLEQUIN ROMANCES IN 2022 and SONG SNIPETS to keep me from getting skunked in those categories.

Repatriate should not have been accepted since they wanted a word longer than deportation. I said repatriation.

Guessed King Arthur on FJ just to have something.

Fay. Fey means marked for death or under a spell. Presumably they determined that fay isn't used to refer to a mischievous person so it didn't fit the clue.

You and the writers must not ever have played D&D. :(

So the Steven Seagal movie with Screwface could have just been called "Fey"?

Regarding FJ, I blame Star Trek Next Generation for immediately going to Gilgamesh. A King. At Uruk. Thanks Darmok.

Don't know about the writers. I sure did. Was there a Fey or Fay in the Monster Manual that was a mischievous person?

While fairies can indeed be mischievous, you wouldn't refer to a person as fae. E.g., "Look at that fae, he's gone and tied jingle bells to the cat's tail."
'Imp' easily fits instead
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

My first thought for FJ was Gilgamesh and I stuck with it. I figured Heardred sounded more like a Beowulf character than a Gilgamesh character but I wasn't sure and didn't want to change my initial answer.

When I saw the "NEW HARLEQUIN ROMANCES IN 2022" I thought it was going to be a category about clowns falling in love and I was looking forward to see how they filled out all the clues. I wasn't as excited about the actual category but oh well.

I got computer on the rebound after computers.

The writers are getting hipper with their music selection. Much more of a modern selection than we've been treated to in the past.

Not familiar with D&D but I wouldn't refer to a person as a fay. I didn't know fay was the singular of fae. The portrayal of the fae in modern cartoons is very different than it is in some older literature.

Massachusetts Bay Colony and Plymouth Colony was a coinflip for me. Does anybody have some insight on how to get that one right?

If it mentions 1620-1629, Plymouth. If it mentions Boston or anywhere else north, Mass Bay.

Otherwise, if it's low dollar, Plymouth. If it's high dollar, Mass Bay.

That felt rougher than usual.

Coryat: $24,400

33 R (1 DD), 6 W (Said Hoover instead of FDR and just guessed Maldives to have something.)

FJ: :( Said Roland (as in The Song of Roland)

D&D spells the creature type for fairies, etc. Fey.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?
