At least we can be glad that the very deserving Amy got her 3 wins with no reliance on the Paul/Hebrews clue debacle. But we will never know whether Sam was deflated/demoralized by that unfair loss and might have had a chance to do better. With a different ruling on that clue, Sam would at least have won another $50K for a $100K second-place finish, so I hope the Jeopardy! producers will find room in their budget to honor the second-place position he (at least) deserves, without depriving Andrew of the extra $50K he won because of the producers' foul-up.

Sam found all the DDs to leave it to a buzzer battle for Amy & Andrew. Amy did enough for a narrow lead. Sam found DD3 after making a switch on the fly from the category with DD2 where he started to call a clue to a different category.

After BODIES OF WATER had DD2 I thought it was a tough call to figure out where DD3 might be.

Andrew got busted for not fulfilling the requirement of the "P.J." category by giving last name only.

That FJ! clue was one way to make sure the winner of the game from the lead and not some kind of triple miss betting strategy. After a 1/5 last week I'll gladly take a no doubt gimme to begin this week.

The road was a little shaky at times, but by the end the top seed took the ToC. 49ers on KGO tonight has J! airing in the early a.m. tomorrow. Good luck to Bay Area viewers on delay watch being able to avoid expected media coverage of varying sorts for the Oakland winner.

Back to regular play tomorrow.

This FJ is the epitome of WECIB.

Amy is, without a doubt in mind, an incredibly deserving champion, but I can't help but put an asterisk on this tournament as a whole, and thats a shame.

By far the easiest FJ! of the tournament.
Date + city, thought "It can't be that obvious, could it?"
Yes, it was.

How immensely disrespectful. There is absolutely zero reason to put an asterisk on Amy’s championship.

Be better.

I was thinking the same thing. That's a lot of extra minutes of entertainment the finalists provided for no additional financial compensation!

I haven't seen the show yet... did they mention how the runner-ups were determined?

Thanks. For the record, the note says:

2nd and 3rd place determination based on:
1. final games won. If tied:
2. number of 2nd place finishes in finals. If tied:
3. cumulative total in finals.

Do we know anything about the process of writing and selecting FJ clues for multi game tournaments? Seems to me they would need to carefully vet a number of candidates and then select randomly.

See the Podcast thread. It would seem they have no intent of an asterisk or additional prize money.

If the post's brief account is accurate, Davies dismissed the Paul concern but seemed oblivious to the problem of not pinning the source or method of the disputed quotation count. Disappointing, if true. Mistakes can happen and readily be forgiven, but an obliviousness or a dismissive attitude toward mistakes would tend to sour me on the show.
