"Father of Peeps" Ira "Bob" Born, age 98. He didn't actually invent the candy but he mechanized the process, reducing production time from hours to minutes.

Actually, I checked the archive and there was one hit. I don't know how to link it here though

He was first elected to fill the seat after HHHIII’s dad died. His mother was an interim appointment.

Totally agree, but the comment was that he never has and never will come up on the show.

Posted passings with number of archive hits.

Adam Rich - 1
Walter Cunningham - 1
Jeff Beck - 1
Carole Cook - 0
Lisa Marie Presley - 13
Gina Lollobrigida - 7
David Crosby - 10
Bobby Hull - 10
Cindy Williams - 6
Lisa Loring - 2
Barrett Strong - 0
Ira Born - 0
Dave Durenberger - 1

The zeros should be no surprise. The interesting one to me was Lisa Loring with 2 hits, both in days of the week categories.

Somehow I missed this - child actor Mickey Kuhn, the last surviving credited cast member of Gone With The Wind, died in November at age 90.

I hate being wrong about anything, but one hit in 39 seasons of Jeopardy is not exactly something that one must study for. Interesting that in that 1988 election, Skip Humphrey was running for the seat that had been held by both his father and mother.

I started this thread last year for a couple reasons. One was to declutter the current events thread. The other is to draw attention to people of note who die. No, not all of them are in the archive or will likely ever be. But a lot of stuff in the current events thread is not going to pop up on the show, either.

I figured with the Netflix Wednesday series getting some attention, the original was more likely to be acknowledged in light of her death. Otherwise I probably would have left it to someone else to post about her.

Interesting that she was nominated for a Tony as part of the original cast of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” since that play was a correct response in Friday's game.
