I don't like the lack of a hint in the Final clue as to what kind of specificity might be required of the response. If they would have accepted the city, why not the country? If they would have required the building, why not the specific part of the building?

I agree completely. I said "Canterbury cathedral" just to cover as many bases as I felt necessary. It should have asked for a city.

The Running Man clue going TS had me spring my trap door.

Jeopardy! Fashion Connoisseur Lilly will have a reaction to Charlotte's outfit and now we'll never know what Charlotte's Day 2 was going to be.

Melissa had a higher Coryat than Brandon & Charlotte combined and the champ getting DD3 allowed her enough of a cushion to prevail easily even with the miss of the FJ! clue.

Charlotte and Ken gave no hints what Charlotte wrote. It looked there was a H-A. I can't imagine it was Havre, so perhaps Charlotte will pop on Reddit to say it.

The clue was a miss for me and I was as lost as Brandon as I wrote Jerusalem in thinking perhaps Crusades area like Brandon. Worth nothing, I did get the right place once Ken gave the man's name.

If 1170 is a year-Pavlov it's not one I've filed away yet.

As far as Jeopardy is concerned it is. The murder of Thomas a Becket is the subject of every clue in the Archive that mentions the year 1170.

(Well, there's one that uses it as a distractor for the year of Mohammad's birth, but in every case where it's a real clue.)

Missed it today.

The year, along with the quote, quickly led me to Murder in the Cathedral and the right place.

"What is the universe and all multiverses that may yet be discovered?"

No, there are probably multiverses where he survived, vanquished the king, and we're living in a society where ecclesiastical courts have power.

if anyone can decipher it. I thought it was H-A when taking a first look at it in lesser video quality. After closer examination I now see the possibility of T-A-P?

I see an incompleted "Hastings", as in "Battle of" "in 1066".

A hasty Hastings, you might say.

When someone says the word “event,” I usually think of something like Woodstock, or the 2023 NCAA men’s basketball championship.

But I suppose a murder is an event?

And has already pointed out, it doesn’t actually really narrow down the location much at all.

I’d also quibble that I don’t think these knights exactly said that. They would’ve spoken a little bit different type of English, which leads me to think that this clumsy translation they used here is more historicism than what was ACTUALLY said.

In present day, I most often encounter the word in the context of signs reading "no event parking".

Was rooting for my fellow Albanian Charlotte tonight and noted on Twitter earlier than she has a photo of American Pharoah (misspelled but not the normal way it’s misspelled) em route to his…Triple Crown.

Yep.

I needed something more to make the leap. Beckett isn't famous enough that I know the exact year of his death.

A pic of the correct response to the $1,000 "To The Mountaintop!" clue. I took this from across the border in Yerevan, Armenia on July 1, 2019.

Negged on the Final with Constantinople. I wasn't quite sure what they were going for (country, specific region, city, building, etc) and the word "event" didn't make me think of someone's murder...
