What else could it be?, but I gave pause because of Bond in one of last week's FJ clues.

Posts on TJF have misses with Lara (like Melissa did), Austin Powers and Shaft and Daisy may have been going for Darth Vader at first? I guess it's possible someone could miss with Indiana Jones?MinnesotaMyron wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 1:19 pm What else could it be?, but I gave pause because of Bond in one of last week's FJ clues.
I'm with you for solving it quickly without detours. Others will solve it even faster as Monty Norman will be enough for the right fans.
Sorry, Jerome Vered, you were not in the ON THE "J.V." SQUAD category.
Another guest reader category today in THE LINCOLN HIGHWAY category with author Amor Towles.
Old and new trash available today with the Caine captain and the ace married to the model.
After Melissa played DD2 Ken reminded her that another DD was still out there. Host help? No, Melissa picked the next clue below the DD. The look on her face seemed to indicate the error occurred to her a half second too late. It didn't matter since Melissa later found DD3 and missed that one too.
It's tough to make the ToC going 1/4 on wagering clues and blowing a very gettable gift DD2 and not overly difficult DD3.
Boardie vs. 1x champ tomorrow to close the week.

Re: Thursday, March 23, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Really wanted to see Melissa pull off the win, but she did get here in part due to at least two lucky breaks: surviving a poor wager and surviving someone else's poor wager. I guess if nothing else, her loss makes it easier to root for idearat tomorrow (good retro luck!), though I like Alec.
WECIB for me with the FJ. A little surprised only Alec got it, but as already stated, there are other possible guesses that seem logical/worth a shot in those thirty seconds under the FJ lights.
(This got a laugh out of me, so thanks!)

It just goes to show: even if you don't make the ToC, you can still achieve records to be proud of.LucarioSnooperVixey wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 1:39 pm Melissa holds the record for highest Coryat EVER!!!

For $2,000, identify the state of Nebraska by its outline.
Guessing Alec isn’t a college football fan.
Never seen a Bond movie (tried to watch a couple but turned them off early) but the answer screamed 007 to me.

This can happen when a contestant doesn't know how to play the game. It's not just about trivia.LucarioSnooperVixey wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 1:39 pm Melissa holds the record for highest Coryat EVER!!!

The two DD's in the DJ round are a good example of this without even delving into the wagering. DD2, when given many seconds to offer an answer and in the end offering nothing. That just can't happen, say something, anything. Shouldn't ever happen on a regular clue as well. DD3, an element named after a country. And while at least an answer was offered this time, it wasn't an element real or otherwise named for a country.
You have to have a plan going in and be able to keep your wits about you so you can think. Otherwise it's probably not going to end well.

Ilsa Lund. I completely forgot the "stacatto" part of the clue in trying to think of an answer .

I've always associated John Barry with the Bond theme. Norman's name was new to me. Still, the elements in the clue pointed to no one else but 007.

Re: Thursday, March 23, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I usually freeze my screen for Daily Doubles. Reading the clue, the name Perey had no associations. (I should have realized Marguerite is French.) So I said Francium with low confidence. Then, listening to Ken read the clue with accent, it was hard to believe anyone could miss it...
I could quibble with the Fj...is the James Bond theme really a "song"?...especially when there have been so many memorable theme songs for James Bond movies...still, those adjectives made it unmistakable for me...
The Amor Towles promotion may work with me...I've been meaning to pick the book up. I resisted his last book, but A Gentleman in Moscow is a marvelous read - and deceptively simple.
